Most Comfortable Shoes
The fact is . . .
. . . it is okay to match your shoes to your wardrobe.
It’s okay to want to look your best, but not good if it is to the detriment of your feet.
Your feet get you around town more than a cup of coffee does. Coffee can give a little extra boost, but your feet carry the weight.
How you treat your feet will matter throughout your life. Drink coffee and not pay attention to sore feet is a trip through five good reasons to consider wearing comfortable shoes.
1. Pain: the most obvious
If you’re feet hurt in the shoes you are wearing, chances are they are not comfortable. Listen to your feet. When they hurt, you hurt.
2. Avoiding surgery
This is a big problem, Morton’s neuroma is renowned abnormal thickening of tissue around the nerves of the feet. A very common cause of this condition is wearing shoes that are too tight.
Symptoms include: pain on weight bearing. Pain varies widely from shooting pain affecting the contiguous halves of two toes; feelings like having a pebble a shoe or walking on razor blades; burning, numbness, and paresthesia may also be experienced. Morton’s neuroma lesions have been found using MRI in patients without symptoms.
Moral of the story: If the shoes don’t fit, don’t wear them!
3. Corns, Calluses, and Bunions
These are not attractive, and while the shoes may be, think about what is in them. Treatment may be necessary here too unless you change your foot habits and begin to wear comfortable shoes.
4. Mobility issues
When you force your feet into a pair of uncomfortable shoes your body reacts. It changes the way you walk normally. You may walk on the side of your foot more instead of heel to toe.
This will eventually cause problems with the whole body, not just the feet.
5. Just because you are comfortable in walking shoes
This is the best reason. It as a cup of hot coffee . . . it’s comforting, stimulating, and relaxing all at the same time.
That’s what a good pair of walking shoes will do for you. Your feet and your entire body will appreciate you and, you can still look cute and feel good.
Don’t compromise comfort – just because the shoe you like is the wrong size or the comfortable shoes are the wrong color.
Comfort should always be preceded by style.
